College Bowl Season 2009...Day 2

Okay, I was wrong on both picks yesterday....Wyoming and Rutgers made me eat my words. Well done.

Today we have but one bowl game, and it is the New Orleans Bowl. This game features Southern Miss taking on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. The Golden Eagles of USM did get beaten by CUSA powers Houston and ECU in close games, and they had losses to losing teams UAB and Louisville along with a loss to Kansas. Their 7-5 mark doesn't really include any big victories, their best wins coming against UCF and Marshall. They are bowl veterans, though, being 3 time winners of this very Bowl game, including an OT win over Troy last December.

Middle Tennessee State has only appeared in 3 bowl games in its football history, the most recent being the Motor City Bowl in 2006, where they lost to Central Michigan. Their last bowl victory was in Orlando in the Tangerine Bowl in 1960 when they defeated Presbyterian College.

USM should win this game over the upstart MTSU kids, let's see if I get this one right.

My pick: USM 27 MTSU 14
Record to date (0-2)
